Pre-Skillz

———————————–

Prior to starting basics class, our 5 year olds are able to be challenged in our Pre-Skillz class.

These kids are focused on listening skills, concentration, following directions, staying focused, and fine motor skills. These are all important skills at this age and these kids transition easily into our Basics class once they turn 6 yrs old!

Family Basics

———————————–

Kids starting at 6 years old and older are able to thrive in basics class as they have positive role models and heroes to look up to. Discipline, respect, confidence, and basic leadership skills are practiced in every class while getting a good workout and learning the basics of the martial arts.

Parents, you’ll find the class challenging and fun as well. We teach this for the kids, and the current parents in the class agree that they love having an activity that they can grow together with their child while meeting their own personal goals.

Intermediate

 ———————————–

Once students earn their Green Belt, they are able to start our Intermediate classes. Students start in a faster paced program with sparring, forms, and begin putting all of the basics together into a practical martial arts system.

We practice healthy competition, self discipline and healthy leadership skills through a traditional martial arts curriculum based on taekwondo. This currciulum also follows the basic self defense training found in Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

Advanced

 ———————————–

As students continue on their journey, they begin Advanced classes at Red Belt. At this point of their training, they have seen 80% of the curriclum and will be reviewing and fine tuning technique an application as they approach their Black Belt test.

A minimum of 2 years from Red Belt testing is required to be eligible for testing.

During this 2 year+ Black Belt Test students will focus on Kicking, Boxing, Takedowns, Basic Ground/Submission, and Self Defense curriculum. This Black Belt test is technically a TKD black belt, however we require much more than traditional TKD requirements.

Building Rock Solid Kids

Leadership Academy’s Youth Program focuses on the physical, emotional and mental well being, as well as the education of our children. It is “Education for Life.” Firstly, we provide our young students with the most powerful defensive skills so they will be ready to stand up against bullies. In addition, we assist our students with the development of characteristics and skills they will need in order to live a happy and balanced life.  Our young pupils develop confidence, discipline, courage, responsibility, and leadership among other important values. We promote non-violent resolutions to conflict.

Leadership Academy’s Youth Program focuses a great deal of attention to the development of self-esteem. A good self-image is the basis of a well functioning, happy and successful child.

Our curriculum integrates physical education and self-defense techniques with conditioning and skill oriented games aimed at improving your child’s coordination, motor skills, agility and flexibility. Every instructor receives training in our unique teaching methodology, enabling them to deliver learning through dynamic interaction with the children, using a variety of approaches that meet the various learning types of individual children, whether visual, kinesthetic or auditory. PRIVATE LESSONS

One of the fastest ways to develop skill in any of our programs is 1 on 1. During this private training, we can focus on many different aspects of your training. Kicking, Boxing, Flexibility, Strength and Conditioning, Poomsae/Forms, Sparring, proper technique, Self Defense…etc.

The Private lesson is tailored to you. We fit the shoe to the foot, not the foot to the shoe. We strive to understand what your personal goals are and then we can use martial arts training as a vehicle to help you reach these goals.

Group Classes give you a vast range of training partners to work with. If private lessons will help you fine tune your skills, group classes will challenge yourself against others who are all working toward the same goals. in this “healthy competition’ environment, students are encouraged to help push each other respectfully and perform at their personal best.

We have several class options including Preskillz, Basics, Intermediate, Advanced, Sparring/Forms, and Self Defense Classes.

Our Group TKD Classes are available for ALL ages.

Do You Have A Contract?

At Leadership Academy, we want you to succeed. For this reason, we do not have any long term agreements between new students and the school. We absolutely refuse to force anyone to continue training if they’re not enjoying the process. In fact, we are constantly holding our instructors to a very high national standard and are always working on ways to better our program and better your experience. We don’t need a long term contract to keep you training, we’ve found students to stick around for a VERY long time at Leadership Academy. If it’s not in the best interest of the family, we don’t do it and we’ve found that students are able to truly benefit from the long term benefits of training in the martial arts. We are not just another seasonal sport or a just another physical activity, the most important thing you could do is to train consistently and so we’ve found that you should plan on 6 months to be a great introduction into our programs.

How Long Does It Take to Get A Black Belt?

First of all, you never ‘get’ a black belt. It’s not something that you wear, it’s something that you become. You can become a black belt by training consistently, a minimum twice a week, for about 5-7 years to earn the rank of Black Belt at Leadership Academy. Some may take longer, however 5 years is a minimum time requirement set for Black Belt Testing. The truth is, it’s about the journey, not about the belt at all. More than half of our students continue training beyond black belt because of this very reason. Black belt is not the end of the journey, but instead is a deep understanding of the basics.
